Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Liberates More Towns, Villages in Hasaka Province

The Syrian army made major advances in Hasaka province and liberated a number of villages and a town.
The army units liberated the town of Tal Satih in the Southern parts of al-Qamishli in Hasaka province in heavy clashes.

The Syrian army has liberated tens of villages and towns in Qamishli region as the country’s armed forces are trying to complete their siege of al-Qamishli city and its airport. The ISIL is also trying to gain control of the oil wells of Qamishli area.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army foiled an infiltration attempt by Takfiri terrorist groups in the country’s Northwest, killing and wounding a number of militants.

According to reports, the Syrian army managed to repel an offensive by the Takfiri groups to capture al-Fo’aa and Kafrayya villages on the outskirts of the Northwestern Syrian city of Idlib.

Reports also said a number of Takfiri terrorist groups, including al-Nusra Front, Ahrar al-Sham, Jaish al-Islam, Islamic Front and Sham Front, took part in the abortive operation.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army continued its advance in the country’s northwest in an attempt to take back the towns of Nubel and al-Zahra from Takfiri terrorists.

Two weeks ago, the terrorists launched another attack to seize al-Fo’aa, but they failed to capture the village.

Meantime, the train-and-equip program for Syrian opposition militants will start on March 1 in Turkey, the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed.

During his weekly address to the press, Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tanju Bilgic said the program “will start on March 1”.

“I cannot give further details about the program,” Bilgic added.

On Feb 20, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu had mentioned that around 2,000 Syrian gunmen will take part in a train-and-equip program in Turkey starting in early March.

Cavusoglu said that other countries, such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia, were also engaged in similar programs.

On Feb 19, Turkey and the US inked a deal to train-and-equip the Syrian terrorists, Turkish diplomatic sources said.

The Syrian army continued its unabated fight against Takfiri militants in the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa provinces, inflicting heavy casualties on the armed groups.

The army troops stormed the hideouts of the rebels in the areas of Huriya, Ophaniya and Tal Mashara in Quneitra province, leaving a large number of them dead and injured.

Also, the Takfiri militants suffered major losses in Ataman, Samaj, Tissia, and Dahr al-Qanat in Daraa, as the Syrian army made more gains in its fight against them.

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fuelled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 210,000 people, according to reports. New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year.

Over 3.8 million Syrians have left their country since the beginning of the crisis. More than 7.2 million Syrians have also become internally displaced, according to the UN.

The Takfiri terrorist groups, with members from several Western countries, controls swathes of land in Syria and Iraq, and has been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
