Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Makes Major Advances in Eastern Ghouta

13930125000623_PhotoIInformed military sources announced that the Syrian army has made major advances in Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside.
The army units regained control over several important positions in Arabeen town in Eastern Ghouta, killing over 35 militants in there, an informed Syrian military source told FNA.

The source noted that the Syrian army’s victories in Arabeen, Douma, Marj Al-Sultan, Zobdin and Ain Tarma have widened rifts among the militants.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army purged the terrorists from a strategic region near the Ain Tarma town.

The Syrian army gained full control over the Tamico pharmaceuticals factory and its neighboring farms in Eastern Ghouta area, and destroyed a tunnel used by the militants to transport weapons in Damascus Countryside.

An informed source said that the militants who had been holed up in the factory and the neighboring buildings and farms were killed, adding that huge amounts of weapons and ammunition were confiscated as well.

Meantime, the Syrian troops regained control of a cement factory in near the city of Aleppo while other army units continued their military operations in Al-Moslemieh region near Aleppo Central Prison.

Also, Syrian Armed Forces inflicted massive losses upon insurgents in Idlib and Damascus countryside, killing and wounding a large number of the foreign-backed militants.

In a series of new operations, Syrian soldiers won the battle against the rebels in Nahleh town in Idlib countryside where scores of them were killed, Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

The brave soldiers also stormed the gathering centers in Maar Beleit and the area surrounding al-Shabiba in the countryside.

The insurgents attempted to infiltrate into al-Shih farms in Damascus Countryside which were faced with the crushing response of the Syrian forces.

Meantime, a source said that the Syrian Army’s recent victories against the foreign-backed rebels in Damascus countryside have forced large groups of militants to turn in themselves to authorities.

A military source told the State News Agency on Sunday that 180 gunmen in Bassima in Damascus countryside turned in themselves and their weapons to authorities.

Five days earlier, 180 gunmen from al-Zabadani area in the province turned themselves in, and the total of gunmen from Damascus Countryside who turned themselves in during the month of August is 547, with the rest of the gunmen being from Kanaker and Beit Sehm areas.

Elsewhere, a source said that the Syrian Army’s recent victories against the foreign-backed rebels in Damascus countryside have forced large groups of militants to turn in themselves to authorities.
