Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Makes New Gains in Hama Province

 

The Syrian army continued its military operations in Eastern Hama by purging terrorists from a strategic region.

The army units drove back the ISIL terrorists from key regions in Eastern Hama after destroying the defense lines of terrorists there.

The Syrian troops killed several terrorists and injured many more in fierce clashes over controlling of the strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines in the Central part of Syria on Saturday, taking control over several more regions in Eastern Hama.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL in Eastern Hama and imposed control over the villages of Abu Hakfaya, Abu Kahaf, Maksar al-Shamali, Maksar al-Janoubi and al-Hawa’iyat heights.

A number of terrorists were killed and their military equipment were destroyed in the attacks.

The Syrian Army soldiers ambushed a military column of ISIL in Northern Hama on Wednesday, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army men carried out an ambush operation against a military column of ISIL terrorists after they tried to go through Wadi al-Azib region towards areas under the control of Al-Nusra Front in Northern Hama.

Six military vehicles were destroyed and at least fifteen terrorists were killed in the operation.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops seized control over several regions on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and laid siege on the terrorists in the few neighborhoods that are still under the control of ISIL in Deir Ezzur city, military sources said on Saturday.

The sources said that the army soldiers engaged in a tough battle with ISIL and imposed control over several positions near the village of al-Hosseiniyeh, laying siege on the remaining terrorist-held neighborhoods in Deir Ezzur city.

Also, the army soldiers cut off the road connecting the Eastern and Northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzur to each other on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River, they added.

ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware and vehicles sustained major damage in the attacks.

In the meantime, reports also said that the army units inflicted major defeats on ISIL in the neighborhoods of al-Sina’ah and al-Orfi.

Military sources said earlier today that the army soldiers managed to drive ISIL out of more positions near Mahkan in the Southeastern countryside of al-Mayadeen and laid siege on the entire ISIL-held villages and settlements on the Western bank of the Euphrates River from Mahkan up to Deir Ezzur city.

The sources further said that the army has gained control over 30 percent of al-Mayadeen.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force carried out a fresh round of combat flights over ISIL’s positions and movements in the towns, villages and neighborhoods of al-Mayadeen, Zebyan, Buqrus Tahtani, Buqrus Fowqani, Mouhassan, Bu Leil, al-Hosseiniyeh, al-Janineh, al-Omal, al-Orfi, al-Sina’ah, al-Hamidieyh and al-Huweiqa, killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their positions and vehicles.

Idlib

Mohammad Ma’arati, a senior security commander of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board), was assassinated by unknown assailants in Southern Idlib, local sources reported on Saturday.

Moshammad Ma’arati nom de guerre Abu Ali Janoubi, a security commander of Al-Nusra, was killed by unidentified attackers in the town of Khan Sheikhoun.

In the meantime, a number of Al-Nusra terrorists were killed or wounded in the blast of a bomb-laden motorcycle in one of the positions of Al-Nusra in the town of Abu al-Dhohur in Eastern Idlib.

Well-informed sources said last week that Al-Nusra Front engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists deployed in the town of Kafr Takharim which left five Al-Nusra terrorists injured.

The sources said that the clashes erupted among the terrorists after the gunmen in the town prevented Al-Nusra fighters’ movement through the region towards Armanaz.

In the meantime, some of the members of Jund al-Aqsa in the town of Sarmin in Eastern Idlib stormed Al-Nusra’s command posts in the region.

Reports said tens of militants have been killed or wounded in the battle.

The assailants managed to tack control of Al-Nusra’ command posts.
