Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Makes New Gains in Idlib Province

 

The Syrian army continued its military operations in Southeastern Idlib by purging terrorists from more strategic regions.

The army units targeted the al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists’ military positions in Southeastern Idlib after destroying the defense lines of terrorists there and managed to capture more strategic regions.

The Syrian troops killed several terrorists and injured many more in fierce clashes over controlling of the strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Idlib

The Syrian army continued military operations against the terrorists in Hama and Idlib, retaking control over 4 more regions.

The army forces continued attacks against al-Nusra militants from its positions in the village of Um al-Khalakhil in Southeastern Idlib, regaining control of the villages of Rasm al-Abid, al-Fahil, al-Robideh and Moshirfeh.

The Syrian army forces killed a number of terrorists during the clashes and destroyed their military equipment.

Relevant reports said earlier on Thursday that the Syrian army regained control of over 50sq/km of territories in Southeastern Idlib.

The army forces continued clashes with al-Nusra Front terrorists in Sanjar in Southeastern Idlib, retaking control of the two villages of Rajm al-Mushrif and Mushrefat al-Khanzir in the Northern parts of al-Khanzir and al-Maqta’a hills.

A field source said that the army has freed over 50sq/km of lands in the region during its Wednesday operations, winning back several regions, including the villages of al-Zarzur and Um al-Khalakhil.

Damascus

The Syrian army has sent a large number of reinforcements and equipment to Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, preparing for a heavy battle to drive the terrorists out of their vital positions in the region.

Field sources confirmed on Thursday that special forces and military equipment have been dispatched to Eastern Ghouta to prepare the army for massive operations against the terrorists and establish security at the Vehicle Management Center in Harasta in Eastern Damascus.

Meantime, the Syrian army soldiers regained control of a number of buildings in the Eastern parts of the governor-general office in Harasta after temporarily withdrawing from the region.

Also, the Syrian army’s artillery, missile and air force units attacked the regions of clashes, al-Nusra Front positions and roads used by the terrorists near the towns of Arabayn, Modira, Beit Sawa, Hamouriyeh and Mesraba in Eastern Damascus.

Hama

The Syrian army inflicted a heavy defeat on al-Nusra Front terrorists in Southern Hama by repulsing their attack aimed at blocking the army’s advance in Hama and Idlib.

The army units engaged in fierce clashes with a group of al-Nusra terrorists who had launched an offensive from the town of Hor Benafseh against the army positions in the same town in Southern Hama on Thursday.

The Syrian army soldiers warded off the attack after killing and wounding all militants and destroying their military equipment.

Meantime, a field source confirmed that the al-Nusra launched the offensive to prevent the army’s further advances in Northeastern Hama and Southeastern Idlib.
