Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Preparing to Complete Siege of Aleppo City

The Syrian army started fresh military operations in Aleppo city in a bid to complete its siege of the city which is now under the control of the Takfiri terrorists.
The army units made major advances in Aleppo countryside and killed at least 26 militants at the start of their operations.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the killed rebels were from an array of jihadist groups, mainly the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front.

Aleppo, once the economic hub of Syria, has seen the most ferocious battles between the rebels and the government troops.

Aside from Aleppo, the Syrian troops also achieved progress against the rebels in the Eastern countryside of the capital, Damascus, Sunday, mainly the troublesome suburb of Jobar, a main stronghold of the armed militant groups.

According to the latest reports, 90 percent of Jobar is under the control of the Syrian army troops now.

Also in the past 24 hours, powerful blast rocked Syria’s Northern province of al-Raqqa, killing tens of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) Takfiri terrorists.

The big blast hit the industrial area in the central part of al-Raqqa, spelling no further details.

Also, the Syrian troops killed more than 8 al-Nusra terrorists after inflicting heavy losses on the terrorist group in the area.

Elsewhere, the Syrian Army stormed the hideouts of Takfiri groups in nearby areas of Daraa province, killing and injuring a great number of militants.

The army soldiers killed scores of the rebels in the areas of Kark, Bajabeja, and Seiba in Daraa province after heavy clashes with the armed groups.

Meantime, the foreign-backed militants suffered major losses, as the army made more gains in Hwijat Sakr near an airport in Deir Ezzur.

Also, a Chinese state-run newspaper reported that about 300 Chinese people are fighting alongside the ISIL terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.

Chinese members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) are traveling to Syria via Turkey to join the ISIL, the Global Times, run by China’s ruling Communist Party’s official newspaper, the People’s Daily, said.

“According to information from various sources, including security officers from Iraq’s Kurdish region, Syria and Lebanon, around 300 Chinese extremists are fighting with IS(IL) in Iraq and Syria,” the Global Times reported.

Elsewhere, the militants suffered major losses across the province of Idlib, as the Syrian Army made advances in its fight against the insurgents in Kafar Owaid, Qastoun, Kfar Roma, Jabal al-Akrad, al-Marana, Job al-Ahmar, and Ma’arat al-Numan.

Also, the Syrian army continued its major advances in Damascus countryside, and launched fresh military operations in the town of Jobar.

The army units have made considerable advances in several districts of Jobar in Damascus countryside in the past two days.

The Syrian army is planning to complete its siege of Jobar in a bid to pave the way for winning control over the town in the coming days.

Meantime, a Syrian military source told FNA that the Syrian army now sees the seizure of Jobar as its top priority.

Also, the Syrian Army inflicted heavy losses on Takfiri groups in surrounding areas of Damascus province, claiming the lives of scores of militants.

The army troops stormed the hideouts of the rebels in the areas of Ein Tarma, Kifr batna, and al-Mlaiha in Damascus, leaving a great number of them dead and injured.
