Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Regains Control of More Areas in Damascus Countryside

The Syrian army continued its advances in Damascus province in Southern Syria, and took back control of more areas in the Southern parts of al-Qaboun district.

The army units drove the ISIL terrorists out of key areas and their surrounding areas in Eastern Damascus.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Damascus

The Syrian army advanced in new areas in al-Qaboun district by continued military operations against al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Eastern Damascus.

The army forces regained control of vast areas in the Southern parts of al-Qaboun in Eastern Damascus after heavy clashes with al-Nusra terrorists.

A military source said that the army soldiers killed and wounded several militants and held captive two al-Nusra terrorists.

Noting that the terrorists are confused by the army’s rapid advance, he said they have demanded fresh forces and logistics from their comrades in other regions.

The source said that the terrorists have also withdrawn from the remaining residential blocks in the battle zone.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army units fended off an ISIL offensive on their positions in Southern Deir Ezzur and regained control of a strategic region by launching a counterattack.

The army soldiers engaged in clashes with a group of terrorists who intended to occupy the Syrian troops’ new positions in the Western parts of al-Ta’min brigade in Southern Deir Ezzur, and repulsed their offensive after inflicting casualties on the militants.

The army units then launched a counterattack on ISIL bases near al-Ta’min brigade region and won control of Abu Hassan hill after heavy clashes with the terrorists.

The army forces also targeted a group of ISIL terrorists who were fleeing the battleground in the Southwestern parts of al-Ta’min brigade with tank fire, killing 11 militants and wounding several others.

Idlib

A prominent political analyst underlined the Syrian army’s firm determination to start battle against the terrorists in Idlib, and said they have inched closer to Khan Sheikhoun as one of the terrorists’ most important bases.

Turki Saqar said that after the army regained control of Halfaya city and several villages in Northern Hama, it has come much closer to Khan Sheikhoun.

“Idlib hosts over 25,000 terrorists who are afraid of the army’s imminent attack, specially now that the government troops have seized control of 80% of Northern Hama which means their preparedness to participate in Idlib battle,” he added.

Saqar, meantime, said that the government has left open the doors to reconciliation but the terrorist groups don’t seem to be ready to accept peace or surrender.

Informed sources had earlier reported that the Syrian army plans to continue the march in Northern Hama up to the towns of Morek in Hama and Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib to provide a chance for the Russian forces to inspect the site of the chemical incident in Khan Sheikhoun.

The sources further stressed that current battle will not end in Khan Sheikhoun, and will rather expand then to other towns and villages.

Dara’a

The Syrian army targeted the positions and moves of the al-Nusra Front in several regions in Dara’a, killing tens of terrorists and destroying their military vehicles and equipment.

The army units targeted the al-Nusra bases and moves in Tariq al-Sad, al-Bahar and al-Abbasiyeh regions and the Northern parts of the Post Building with artillery and missile fire.

A military source reported that tens of al-Nusra terrorists were killed and wounded in the attacks.

Also, 3 tanks, 7 military vehicles, 4 artilleries and 1 missile-launching base of the terrorists were smashed during the operations.

Homs

The Syrian army soldiers could seize back control of a strategic region in Northeastern Homs from ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian army units engaged in heavy clashes with ISIL terrorists in the Northeastern parts of Homs and regained control of one of the most strategic areas in the region between the villages of al-Masoudiyeh and Khattab in the outskirts of al-Makhram city after inflicting several casualties on the militants and destroying their weapons and military equipment.

Meantime, other army forces heavily clashed with al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists at several points near al-Houleh region in Northwestern Homs.

Concurrent with the clashes, the missile, artillery and air force units targeted al-Nusra’s positions in Kafar Laha, Western al-Taybat, Tal Zahab and Taldou, blowing up an operation base of al-Nusra and military vehicles and wounding a large number of terrorists.

Hama

The Syrian army repelled an al-Nusra Front offensive launched by tens of terrorists in Northern Hama, and established its control in the region.

The army units warded off the attack that was aimed at reoccupying the village of al-Masaseneh in Northern Hama, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists and destroying their military equipment.

A military source reported that tens of militants attacked the village with a large number of their military, armored and suicide vehicles but were faced with the Syrian army’s resistance.

Meantime, the Russian and Syrian fighter jets and the army’s artillery and missile units launched fierce attacks on the al-Nusra Front positions and moves in Morak, Kafr Zita and al-Latamina (also known as the terrorists’ triangle), killing and wounding tens of them and smashing several caches of arms, ammunition and military equipment.

The army also stabilized control over the points recently retaken from the terrorists in Northern Hama.
