Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Attacks on Gov’t Positions in Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army soldiers repelled terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Deir Ezzur province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on them.

The ISIL terrorists’ attacks to capture the government forces’ positions in the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur airbase were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Homs and Damascus, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in areas surroundings Deir Ezzur’s airbase and managed to repel the terrorist group’s offensive, inflicting major losses on them.

The army men started battling ISIL members that had attacked their positions South of Deir Ezzur’s airbase and Tamin Brigade base from the Eastern direction of the airbase, repelling the terrorists’ offensive.

ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware also sustained major damage in the clashes.

Military sources in Deir Ezzur confirmed that the army soldiers also destroyed a key position of ISIL near Brigade 137th base.

The sources added that the Syrian Air Force bombed the gatherings and movements of ISIL near Raqqa bridge, destroying two military vehicles and killing or wounding a number of terrorists.

Hama

The Syrian Army’s artillery and missile units launched heavy shelling on the movements of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southern Hama before the terrorist group could kick off a large-scale attack.

The army’s artillery and missile units carried out a preemptive move and pounded badly the movements and gathering centers of Al-Nusra terrorists that were getting ready to attack pro-government forces’ positions near the village of al-Zareh and the thermal power plant from their positions in Hirbnafsa.

A number of Al-Nusra terrorists were killed or wounded and their military equipment were destroyed under the army fire.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued to advance against Terrorists in al-Qaboun district in Eastern Ghouta, taking control over a number of residential complexes.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with terrorists in al-Qaboun district and managed to drive them out of 40 residential complexes.

In the meantime, the army’s missile units shelled heavily terrorists’ positions in al-Qaboun.

Local sources reported that the army units also seized control over a tunnel near power company in al-Qaboun, adding the tunnel that was named Rahma by terrorists was a road used by the militants to move between al-Qaboun and other regions in Eastern Ghouta.

The sources further added that the Syrian Air Force carried out several combat flights and targeted communication lines of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) between the town of Arbin and al-Qaboun.

Reports said earlier on Monday that the army hit the positions of the terrorists in al-Qaboun district and managed to enter more regions, driving a wedge between the terrorists in the region.

The army soldiers stormed terrorists’ defense lines in the Northeastern outskirts of Damascus and pushed militants back from more positions in a region between Al-Qaboun district and Barzeh farms.

A military source reported that the army men, who entered a region known as Imam Hossein grand mosque, discovered a vast network of tunnels that were connected to the depth of Eastern Ghouta, adding that one of the tunnels was connected to the town of Arbin.

The source further added that the army’s advances in Imam Hossein grand mosque region enabled the pro-government forces to separate al-Qaboun district from Barzeh farms.

Raqqa

Sources within the ranks of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces disclosed that ISIL has executed several commanders of the terrorist group after his forces suffered heavy defeats in battle with the SDF.

The sources said that the ISIL has executed a number of its own commanders after the SDF forces laid siege on ISIL in Raqqa city from three directions and closed the entire roads to the city.

The sources added that lack of trust in each other and militants’ spiritual collapse were other causes behind the execution of the notorious commanders by the ISIL.

In the meantime, local members of the ISIL have lost their trust in foreign members (Mohajereen) of the ISIL, accusing them of spying for SDF and the international coalition.

Aleppo

The Syrian Army troops have intensified their attacks on terrorists’ gathering centers in the Northern and Western parts of Aleppo province to reinvigorate sustainable security to the provincial capital, a well-informed source said.

The source said that the army soldiers are to lay siege on the strategic town of Anadan and its surroundings to retake full control over them during the course of their operation in Northern and Western Aleppo.

The source further added that the army units are trying to lay siege on the terrorists in Anadan from four directions, adding that the army tried to lay siege on Anadan from the town of Bashkoy Northeast of Anadan and al-Tamoureh Northeast of Anadan and Jam’iyat al-Zahra and al-Rashedeen districts in the Southern and Southeastern directions of the terrorist-held town.

The source went on to say that the army’s control over Anadan will restore full security to Aleppo city.

The army’s artillery and missile units, meantime, targeted the positions of ISIL in the villages of Huweiqa al-Sakar and Hatleh, killing several militants and destroying their equipment.
