Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repels Terrorists’ Attacks on Gov’t Positions in Hama

The Syrian army soldiers warded off terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Hama province after hours of clashes, inflicting major losses on the militants.

The terrorist attacks to capture the government forces’ positions in the Southeastern Hama were fended off by the strong defense of the Syrian military men.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria, including Deir Ezzur, over past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops repelled another heavy offensive of the Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Southeastern Hama and further carried out a rapid counter-attack, recapturing lost positions, local sources reported on Tuesday.

The sources said that army men fended off a heavy attack of a group of Al-Nusra terrorists in a region from the Southwest of the town of al-Salamiyah to the towns of Talbiseh and al-Rastan in Northern Homs and further to the village of al-Ramileh, inflicting heavy casualties on the militants.

The sources added that the army men further carried out a rapid counter-attack at Hama border with Homs and managed to impose control over lost lands in the village of Moqasem al-Hamrat Southwest of the small town of Khneifes in Southeastern Hama.

Damascus

The Syrian Army has dispatched a large number of elite forces to Eastern Ghouta to kick off a large-scale operation to purge the region of terrorist groups, field sources reported on Tuesday.

FNA dispatches quoted the sources as saying that the army has forwarded a large number of Tiger Forces from Idlib to Eastern Ghouta.

The first priority of the army is now purging Eastern Ghouta of terrorists, the sources told FNA, adding that the army plans to storm the terrorists from the directions of the Governorate Building in Damascus outskirts, al-Rahbah region and the Vehicles Management Center.

Also, the army units are preparing to advance in the depth of the regions that are under the control of the Jeish al-Islam through al-Marj region, especially via al-Nashabiyeh and Hawsh al-Zawaherah regions.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army discovered a large cache of Israeli-made arms and ammunition in mop-up operation in liberated regions in Deir Ezzur province on Tuesday.

The army sources said they were carrying out cleansing operation in the villages of al-Sayal and Hasarat East of the town of Albu Kamal in Southeastern Deir Ezzur when they discovered several warehouses containing a large number of Israel-made missiles, rockets, mortars, shells, landmines and hand-made bombs.

In the meantime, the army men found a tunnel in the village of al-Sabikhan East of the town of al-Mayadeen that was used as a large workshop to manufacture arms and bombs, the sources said adding that a large quantity of unknown materials has also been found in the tunnel.

Aleppo

The Turkish Army’s artillery units pounded for the first time the Central part of the town of Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo, inflicting an unspecified number of casualties on the civilian population, a Kurdish media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Hawar news reported that the artillery units of the Turkish army and Ankara-backed militants opened heavy fire at populated neighborhoods in the Central part of Afrin.

It went on to say that the artillery units also targeted Afrin Hospital inside the town, killing and wounding a number of civilians, including several children. Yet, the news outlet said the exact number of casualties is not clear yet.

Idlib

Tens of terrorists from the Al-Nusra Front were killed and wounded after a bomb went off in front of the group’s command center in Idlib province on Tuesday.

At least eight militants were killed and 20 more were injured in a bomb explosion in front of the Al-Nusra’s command center in Ma’arat al-Mesrin in Idlib.

In the meantime, two Al-Nusra security members were killed after unknown raiders attacked one of the checkpoints of Al-Nusra in the town of Ariha in Idlib province.
