Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Seizes Control Over ISIL’s Last Bastions in Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army managed to seize control over several more bastions of the terrorists in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

At least three other main bases of the ISIL terrorists were recaptured by the government troops in Mouhassan, Bu Leil and Bu Amr located between Deir Ezzur city and the newly-liberated town of al-Mayadeen.

Meantime, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their military advances in other parts of Syria, including Homs and Hama, over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in other provinces across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army forces managed to seize control over three main strongholds of the ISIL terrorists in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, military sources conformed.

The sources said that the army men drove ISIL out of the towns of Mouhassan, Bu Leil and Bu Amr between Deir Ezzur city and the newly-liberated town of al-Mayadeen.

Relevant reports said earlier that the army troops struck again the ISIL’s defense lines in the Northeastern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River, seizing control over a key village.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL and captured the village of al-Salehiyeh, advancing later towards the villages of al-Hosseiniyeh and al-Janiniyeh.

Raqqa

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) drove ISIL out of more regions in the Northeastern Raqqa city, imposing full control over the city, local sources said on Tuesday.

The sources said that the SDF hunted the remaining pockets of ISIL gunmen and seized full control over Raqqa city.

They added that the SDF further started defusing bombs and landmines planted by the ISIL in the city.

Spokesman for the SDF Talal Salou said that the military operation in Raqqa has ended, but the SDF forces will continue their cleansing operation to hunt the ISIL gunmen that are hidden in the region and to defuse bombs and landmines in the city.

Earlier on Tuesday, the SDF announced that its forces pushed back ISIL from al-Na’eim square also called by Raqqa civilians as the hell square, a place for ISIL’s executions and atrocities.

In the meantime, The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the ISIL has retreated from al-Na’eim square, but due to large quantity of landmines planted by the ISIL the SDF fighters have not been capable of taking control over the square.

The SDF also attacked the ISIL’s last positions, including headquarters at the Raqqa National Hospital, inside the provincial capital.

Shortly after launching their assault, the SDF established full control over the Raqqa National Hospital, marking the end of the ISIL’s reign over this former medical facility.

Also, the SDF captured Raqqa sports stadium as one of the last strongholds of the ISIL in the city.

The SDF has raised its flag over the newly-captured al-Baladi sports stadium.

Homs

The airstrikes on ISIL’s military positions near the town of al-Quaryatayn killed a notorious commander of the terrorist group.

Basam al-Dakhil nom de guerre Abu Abdul Rahman Bashaer, ISIL’s senior field commander, was killed in an airstrike near al-Quaryatayn town.

There are no further details available about the exact place of the attack and other casualties.

In a relevant development, the Syrian army troops were preparing to kick off the liberation operation of the ISIL-held town of al-Quaryatayn in Southwestern Homs.

The army men, backed up by the Russian Special Forces, have kept rolling on the ISIL’s defense lines in the ancient town of Quaryatayn over the past two weeks, clearing several ISIL sleeper cells in the desert region.

Once Quaryatayn is officially declared free from the ISIL occupation, the army men will shift their attention to the small pockets occupied by the terrorist group in the region.

Quaryatayn was seized by ISIL terrorists two weeks after they launched a surprise offensive from their sleeper cells inside the city early this month.

Hama

The Syrian Army carried out clean up operation against terrorists in Eastern Hama, restoring full security to the road connecting the town of Ithriya in Northeastern Hama to the town of al-Salamiyah.

The army men took control of Jubb al-Tanahej and later moved Eastward, capturing the regions of Khirbet al-Tanahej, Wadi al-Azib, al-Bohouth al-Elmiyeh, al-Seib dam, the village of al-Seib, Wadi al-Zaroub, Wadi Mazlouf, Wadi Hasou al-Ramil, al-Rozah, Harmala, Abdul Amir, Jubb Eid, al-Jarouh, Um Qazal and al-Tanahij Mountain, restoring ultimately full security to Ithriya- al-Salamiyah road.

The Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines in the Central part of Syria on Saturday, taking control over several more regions in Eastern Hama.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL in Eastern Hama and imposed control over the villages of Abu Hakfaya, Abu Kahaf, Maksar al-Shamali, Maksar al-Janoubi and al-Hawa’iyat heights.
