Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Suffer Heavy Defeat in Aleppo

Jeish al-Fatah terrorist coalition, enjoying over 16,000 fighters in its Great Epic Operation, failed to prevail over government positons in Western and Southwestern parts of Aleppo and finally stopped attacking army’s defense lines on Monday afternoon.

In the meantime, Syrian army troops and popular forces, backed up by the country’s fighter jets and artillery units, inflicted major losses and heavy casualties on the militants across the province of Hama, Lattakia, Dara’a and Damascus.

Aleppo:

Great Epic Operation – a last ditch effort by over 16,000 Jeish al-Fatah terrorists from outside Aleppo to help besieged militants in the Eastern parts of the city – ended in yet another failure even in absence of Russian airstrikes, the militants admitted, blaming their top commander for their “humiliating defeat in Western and Southwestern Aleppo.

“Jeish al-Fatah’s Great Epic Operation failed to meet the coalition’s military objective of lifting the siege on our comrades trapped in the Eastern part of the city,” militants told their affiliated media outlets and on their social media pages, adding that “relevant calm has prevailed over the Western and Southwestern districts of Aleppo since Monday afternoon”.

“No more attacks on army positions has been reported since the final hours of this afternoon,” the militants’ media outlets said.

Also, the militants complained in their social media posts left in the last 24 hours that Abdullah Muhammad al-Muhaysini, senior al Qaeda-linked cleric and religious leader of Jeish al-Fatah coalition of militant groups, is to blame for the “humiliating result” of the Great Epic Operation in Aleppo.

The terrorists slammed al-Muhaysini for his “totally wrong strategy” for removing the army siege on their fellow militants under siege in Eastern Aleppo, saying that his “naive plans sent hundreds of fighters to meet their death”.

“It seems that al-Muhaysini has sent the foreign members of the militant groups to the Aleppo battlefield to get rid of them,” several militants wrote in their posts.

In the meantime, The Syrian Army said in a statement on Monday that Fatah al-Sham Front (the al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) killed and wounded hundreds of people in Aleppo during the last couple of days.

The statement said that terrorists killed at least 84 people and injured 280 in Aleppo during the past three days after the Fatah al-Sham Front intensified its offensive on Aleppo with the help of other militant groups.

Also, Syrian Army troops and popular forces exerted unprecedented force on Jeish al-Fatah in the Western and Southwestern parts of Aleppo city and drove the terrorists out of the few neighborhoods and districts that they had captured in the last few days.

Reports from Western and Southwestern Aleppo said that the terrorists already withdrew from almost all the few neighborhoods that they had captured in the last few days after sustaining hundreds of casualties in an all-out offensive to rescue their friends in the Eastern parts of the city.

Syrian government forces targeted several explosive-laden suicide vehicles of Jeish al-Fatah and forced the militants to retreat from their positions in the Assad Military-Engineering Academy, the 3,000-Unit Housing Complex and Housing Project 1070.

Sporadic clashes were underway between the Syrian military forces and Jeish al-Fatah terrorists in the districts of Zahiyeh al-Assad, Jam’iyat al-Zahra and the surrounding areas of Menyan (Benjamin) neighborhood.

The Syrian and Russian fighter jets, for their part, pounded militant centers in Zahiyeh al-Assad, Jam’iyat al-Zahra and the areas near Menyan and Housing Project 1070, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

In the meantime, Syrian Army soldiers and popular forces pushed Jeish al-Fatah terrorists back from Menyan neighborhood and also laid siege on a group of militants in Zahiyeh al-Assad district in Southwestern Aleppo city.

Syrian government forces inflicted tens of casualties on Jeish al-Fatah and Fatah al-Sham Front and pushed them back from Menyan, while other units of army ground troops entrapped a group of militants in the residential complexes of Zahiyeh al-Assad.

Meantime, the Syrian warplanes carried out several rounds of combat sorties over terrorists’ gatherings at Rashedeen 1, 4 and 5, Khan al-Asal, A’waram al-Soghra in the Southern and Western outskirts of Aleppo city, destroying their bases and military vehicles.

A number of terrorists were also killed in the air raids.

Also, Syrian Army soldiers and their Palestinian allies carried out a joint offensive on ISIL’s strongholds in the Eastern Countryside of Aleppo to reinvigorate security at the city’s International Airport.

Syrian army men and fighters of Liwa al-Quds stormed ISIL’s strongholds to liberate Sheikh Lotfi region.

The Syrian fighter jets also bombed ISIL’s centers in Sheikh Lotfi region, inflicting major losses on the militants.

Battlefield sources in Syria refuted the terrorists’ claims about advancing in the Southwestern districts of Aleppo city, and underlined the government forces’ full control over the Assad Military-Engineering Academy and a large residential complex in the region.

“Syrian government forces have repelled the entire attacks of Jeish al-Fatah on their positions in the Assad Military-Engineering Academy and the 3,000-Unit Housing Complex,” an army officer told FNA on Monday.

“The Syrian fighter jets and choppers played a crucial role in fending off the terrorists’ attacks on the Assad Military-Engineering Academy and the 3,000-Unit Housing Complex,” he added.

“The Syrian warplanes, meantime, pounded terrorists’ centers in Housing Project 1070, destroying their bomb-laden suicide vehicles,” the sources went on to say.

Meantime, the Syrian Army troops and popular forces repelled over a dozen massive offensives of over 16,000 militants on their positions in Western and Southwestern parts of Aleppo city in the last few days.

“Jeish al-Fatah has launched several rounds of attacks, codenamed the Great Epic Operation, with over 16,000 militants to break the army’s siege of their comrades in the Eastern districts of Aleppo city but failed to do so,” the sources said.

“The Syrian government forces have fended off the entire attacks of Jeish al-Fatah carried out from three flanks of Ramouseh, Assad Military-Engineering Academy and Artillery Academy Building,” the sources added.

“16,000 militants of Jeish al-Fatah have launched a four-phased operation (the Great Epic Operation) to access and capture the Assad Military-Engineering Academy in Southwestern Aleppo in the first and second phases of operation, and then in the third phase they would carry out fresh offensives to capture Aleppo highway, while the last phase of the operation would focus on the removal of the siege on the militants in Aleppo city,” they continued.

“Yet, they have failed to attain any of their objectives in the first three days of the operation,” they went on to say.

Commander of the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces Colonel Suheil al-Hassan and a large number of his fighters arrived in Aleppo to join other army units and popular forces in the war against Jeish al-Fatah terrorists.

“A long column of military vehicles carrying hundreds of Tiger Forces and missile systems arrived in Aleppo city on Sunday,” the sources said, adding, “Several advanced Russia-made tanks have also accompanied the Tiger Forces.”

“The Tiger Forces and the commandoes of the Desert Hawks Brigade, backed up by Syrian choppers, are due to launch joint offensives in Aleppo in the next few days,” added the sources.

Damascus

Syrian government forces continued to strike the positions of Fatah al-Sham Front in Western Ghouta and imposed full control over a key road in Western Ghouta after hours of non-stop clashes.

The army soldiers and National Defense Forces inflicted heavy casualties and major losses on Fatah al-Sham and pushed them away from a road connecting the town of Ashrafiyeh al-Abassiyeh to Eastern al-Za’aroureh region.

Fatah al-Sham also suffered a heavy death toll and its military hardware sustained major damage in Syrian army men’s attacks on their defense lines in Khan al-Sheih town and al-Khirbet region.

In the meantime, Syrian Army troops and popular forces continued their advances against Jeish al-Islam terrorists in Eastern Ghouta, capturing at least 25 square kilometers and developing control near the key city of Douma.

Syrian government forces fortified their positions in Tal (Hill) al-Sawan and took full control over Tal (Hill) Kurdi and their nearby regions in an area at least 25 square kilometers in depth.

Jeish al-Islam terrorists suffered a heavy death toll and retreated from the battlefield but set fire to their bases and factories before leaving the region.

With the seizure of Tal al-Sawan and Tal Kurdi, the Syrian army and its allies are to storm al-Shifouniyeh and al-Reihan to pave the ground for the eventual capture of Jeish al-Islam’s main stronghold.

Hama- Lattakia

Syrian Army soldiers, fighter jets and artillery units destroyed the strongholds and military grid of Fatah al-Sham Front in Northwestern Hama and Northeastern Lattakia.

The army’s artillery units shelled Fatah al-Sham’s bases near the villages of al-Ankawi and al-Ziyareh in al-Saqilibiyeh in Northwestern Hama, inflicting 30 casualties on the militants and destroying their weapons.

Meantime, the Syrian Air Force also carried out several combat sorties over terrorists’ convoys and sites in the town of Taybat al-Imam and its Northern outskirts, the towns of al-Masaseneh, al-Latamina, Morek and its Southern outskirts, Kafr Zita, Jani al-Albawi and Ithriya in Northern and Northeastern Hama, destroying their bases and military vehicles.

Fatah al-Sham’s positions in the town of Kabani in Northeastern Lattakia also came under heavy artillery fire by the Syrian army.

Dara’a

Syrian military forces’ heavy attack against a base of Fatah al-Sham Front in the Southern province of Dara’a inflicted major damage on the group’s missile launchpads.

The Syrian army struck Fatah al-Sham’s sites near the cement-block plant and al-Beit al-Azraq (Blue House) East of the town of Dael and also East of the town of Seida, destroying the militants’ vehicles and missile systems.

Army reports said the missile crew as well as a number of guards were killed in the attack.

Elsewhere in North and Northeastern Dara’a, the army soldiers also repelled the terrorists’ attacks on their positions in Khirbet al-Qazaleh and Namer.

Also, in the same province, the Army’s artillery units shelled the terrorists’ gatherings in the Southern part of the town of al-Na’eimeh, Gharz region, the towns of Ibtta and Dael, Tal (Hill) al-Samn, West of the bridge of the town of al-Qariyeh al-Gharbiyeh, near Khirbet al-Qazaleh and South of al-Yadoudeh town, destroying three armored vehicles, four more vehicles carrying militants, a tank and four drones.

The government troops also targeted the terrorists’ strongholds in Busra square in Dara’a al-Mahatta district and al-Hamadeen neighborhood in Dara’a al-Balad district, destroying their base and military equipment.

In the meantime, Syrian Army troops repelled a massive offensive of the terrorists near the town of Ibtta in Northern Dara’a, killing at least 50 militants and wounding many more.

Syrian government forces warded off an assault of a large number of terrorists on army positions in al-Katibeh al-Mahjoureh on the Eastern side of Ibtta, killing at least 50 militants and destroying their vehicles.
