Syria in Last 24 Hours: Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Army Offensive in Deir Ezzur

 

The Syrian army staged another offensive on ISIL in Deir Ezzur province, and inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists over the past 24 hours.

The Syrian army killed and wounded a number of the terrorists in the outskirts of the city of Deir Ezzur.

The Syrian army also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorist groups in other key regions across Syria.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army soldiers exchanged heavy fire with ISIL near Deir Ezzur city, inflicting major casualties on the terrorists.

The Syrian Army men engaged in heavy fighting with ISIL in al-Sonouf hill on the Taym Road, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their military vehicle.

In the meantime, intense battles erupted in and around Deir Ezzur as the Syrian Army prepares to launch a massive offensive on ISIL positions in the Western regions of Deir Ezzur.

Meanwhile, the army soldiers repelled another powerful offensive of ISIL around the Panorama Roundabout.

Local sources said that the ISIL has launched several “desperate” attacks against the Syrian Army in the past few days, but retreated from the battlefield after brief battle.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops and popular forces engaged in intense battle with terrorists in Northern Hama and managed to take back several villages after inflicting dozens of casualties on the militants, military sources said.

The sources said that the army soldiers, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), carried on a counter-offensive in regions North of Hama province, restoring security to several villages.

They added that the government troops managed to secure six key positions they had previously lost to the terrorist groups, all located between Khattab and Qamhanah towns.

According to the sources, dozens of militants were killed in the battle as government forces destroyed a remote-controlled suicide vehicle, 3 tanks and armored vehicles as well as several artillery and rocket launchers.

Lattakia

The Russian Navy fired several cruise missiles off the coast of Lattakia, targeting the positions of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) in the Northern part of Lattakia province and Southern part of Idlib province.

The Russian cruise missiles reportedly struck several sites along the Lattakia-Idlib road on Thursday, causing significant damage on the strongholds of Tahrir al-Sham near the town of Jisr Al-Shughour in Southern Idlib.

According to a local source in Lattakia, the cruise missile strikes could be heard from as far away as the provincial capital and the Southern city of Jableh, where the Russian Air Force is stationed.

This powerful attack by the Russian Navy was in response to the rocket assault on the Humeimim Military Airbase conducted by the terrorists earlier this week.

Dara’a

A notorious tank commander of the Al-Nusra Front was killed in fierce clashes with the Syrian Army units in al-Abbasiyeh neighborhood in the Southern city of Dara’a.

Abdullah al-Ordoni, nom de guerre “king of tanks”, who was the commander of the terrorists’ tank units in Dara’a was killed in heavy fighting with the army men South of al-Abbasiyeh neighborhood.

In the meantime, a command post of Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in al-Bahar neighborhood was targeted and destroyed in army’s artillery fire.

Army reports said all the terrorists inside the command post have been killed.

The artillery units also targeted the Al-Nusra terrorists’ concentration centers in Dara’a al-Balad district, Tariq al-Saad (road to dam) neighborhood and North of Karak roundabout, killing a number of militants and destroying two positions.

The sources also mentioned that the army soldiers are attempting to seize the provincial cemetery and al-Thardah Mountain which overlook the Deir Ezzur’s military airport.

Damascus-Quneitra

The Syrian Army troops struck several positions of the terrorists in the provinces of Damascus and Quneitra, inflicting a number of casualties on the militants.

Local sources said that violent clashes erupted between the army soldiers and  the Al-Nusra Front in al-Qaboun district in the Eastern outskirts of Damascus city, adding that the army’s missile units further targeted the terrorists’ defense lines heavily with short-range missiles, inflicting major losses on the militants.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery units started targeting the positions of the terrorists in al-Qaboun and the Tishrin districts.

Local sources said that the Harasta-Barzeh road has been kept closed by the army for the safety of civilian lives.

Army reports said that artillery units also targeted the Al-Nusra Front’s gatherings near Harash al-Shahar area in Jabbata Al-Khashab district and destroyed or damaged a number of military vehicles.
