Syria in Last 24 Hours: US-Backed Terrorists Suffer Heavy Defeat in Clashes with Army in Southeastern Homs

The Damascus Army warded off a heavy offensive by the US-backed terrorists in al-Tanf region in Southeastern Homs over the past 24 hours, inflicting major losses on them.

The Syria troops engaged in fierce clashes with the US-backed Jeish al-Maghawir al-Thowra in the Eastern desert of Homs who had attacked the government forces’ positions Southeast of al-Tanf region in Southeastern Homs, fending off their offensive.

A sum of 6 terrorists were killed and two military vehicles were destroyed in the failed attack.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over the past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops repelled a heavy offensive by the US-backed terrorists in al-Tanf region on Sunday, inflicting major losses on them.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with the US-backed Jeish al-Maghawir al-Thowra in the Eastern desert of Homs who had attacked the government forces’ positions Southeast of al-Tanf region in Southeastern Homs, fending off their offensive.

A sum of 6 terrorists were killed and two military vehicles were destroyed in the failed attack.

The remaining pockets of the terrorists managed to retreat as they received air cover from the US fighter jets.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Forces pounded ISIL’s positions in Wadi Aweiraz and T2 Oil Pumping Station in the Eastern desert of Homs, imposing heavy casualties on the terrorists.

Aleppo

Over 20 Ankara-backed militants have been killed or wounded in heavy attacks by the Kurdish militias in Afrin region in Northwestern Aleppo, a media outlet reported on Sunday.

The Arabic-language website of Kurdish Hawar news reported that the Kurds again attacked  the positions of Ankara-backed Faylaq al-Sham between the villages of Deir Souran and Nabi Houra in Shera region in Afrin, killing 4 militants and wounding 5 more.

In the meantime, a military vehicle of the Turkey-backed Sultan Murad militants came under the Kurdish fighters’ attack in the village of Qastal Miqdad in Bolboleh region that left five gunmen dead or wounded, al-Watan reported, adding that a bomb-laden vehicle went off in a vehicle of Ankara-backed militants on a road between Deir Souran and Nabi Houri in Arin, leaving at least 4 gunmen dead and several more wounded.

Deir Ezzur               

A sum of 16 close aides to ISIL Chief Abu Bakr Baghdadi have been killed in recent airstrikes by Iraqi air force on Eastern Deir Ezzur in Southeastern Syria near the border with Iraq, a news website reported on Sunday, adding that the terrorist commanders were moving into Iraq.

Al-Ma’aloumeh news website quoted Abu Ali al-Basri, the director general of Iraqi Interior Ministry’s Counter-Terrorism Department, as saying that 16 senior aides to Baghdadi were killed in the attacks carried out by Iraqi F-16 fighter jets in al-Souseh region in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

He was further quoted by the news website as reporting that a sum of 13 terrorists were also killed in the second round of the air raids on a base of ISIL’s suicide attackers in Eastern Syria, adding that the terrorists were planning to stage attacks on Baghdad, Karbala, Samera and Kirkuk after crossing Syria’s border into Iraq.

Moshtaq Anad Haram al-Mohammadi Araghi nom de guerre Abu Omar, who was ISIL’s war minister and had joined ISIL in 2005, was killed in the air raids.

Hama-Idlib

The Syrian Army’s artillery and missile units pounded the movements of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) and its allies from the demilitarizes zone in Northern Hama and Southern Idlib on Sunday and inflicted major losses on them.

The army’s artillery units, deployed in the small town of Journ in Northern Hama, pounded the movements and positions of Turkistani Islamic Party in the demilitarized zone in al-Ziyarah and al-Sarmayniyah, inflicting major losses on them.

In the meantime, other artillery and missile units shelled the positions of Tahrir al-Sham in the villages and small towns of Latmin, al-Sayad, Kafr Zita, regions near Morek, Ma’arkabah and al-Janabarah in Northern Hama and in al-Sarmaniyah region in Wester al-Ghaab plain.

Also, other artillery units opened fire at Tahrir al-Sham’s gatherings in the small towns of Sahal, Farjah, al-Khowein, al-Moshayrafah, Um Jalala, Tal Khaznah, al-Loweibadah, Skeik and al-Mahjourah Battalion Base in Southeastern Idlib, damaging several positions and a large quantity of military equipment, including missile launchers and also vehicles carrying heavy weapons, the Syria’s leading al-Watan daily reported.

Meanwhile, Head of Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria Major General Sergei Lomotiln reported that the terrorists launched mortar attacks on Beit Siwan, Wabayer, Safsafah and Boshrafah in Lattakia province, killing 3 Syrian soldiers and injuring 9 more.
