Raqqa

ISIL has started evacuating its gunmen from Raqqa city in Northeastern Syria following a secret agreement between the ISIL and SDF to hand over the city to the SDF without any clashes, an Arab media outlet reported on Wednesday.

The Arabic-language al-Manar news network quoted militant-affiliated websites as saying that several buses have been dispatched to al-Asadiyeh region North of Raqqa city to take away the ISIL gunmen and their family members.

Some other sources, meantime, reported that the first group of ISIL gunmen retreated from Raqqa city based on a secret agreement with the SDF.

The sources said that the ISIL militants have possibly moved towards ISIL-held regions in Hama, Homs or Deir Ezzur provinces.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops pushed ISIL back from more regions in the Northern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city on Wednesday, killing over 30 terrorists and wounding several more.

The army men continued to advance against ISIL on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and imposed full control over a set of building blocks in al-Orfi neighborhoods, killing 33 terrorists and destroying several military vehicles.

In the meantime, the army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL inside the town of al-Mayadeen and near Sheikh Ens cemetery and in the Southern Badiyeh (desert) of the town.

The army’s artillery and aircraft also pounded ISIL’s positions in the towns of al-Mayadeen and Albu Kamal and their outskirts, inflicting heavy causalities on terrorists.

The army units are expected to launch the final phase of their offensive to clear the remaining districts occupied by the ISIL militants in Deir Ezzur city, including al-Huweiqa, al-Jubeileh, Sheikh Yasseen, al-Arzi and Kanamat.

Also in the past 24 hours, a military source said that the Syrian Army troops are completing the siege on the Eastern Deir Ezzur city, adding that the ISIL terrorists are trying to leave the city before the siege is completed.

The source said that several groups of terrorists are leaving Deir Ezzur city for the town of Albu Kamal in the Southeastern part of the province near the border with Iraq.

“Small convoys of off-road vehicles and failed attempts to cross the Euphrates River from the Western to the Eastern bank by means of waterborne platforms were detected,” the source said.

According to the source, government forces continue the offensive from several directions and a number of villages along the Euphrates River have been cleared of terrorists.

Terrorists are suffering huge losses inside the city as the Syrian army expands its offensive with the support of the Russian Air Force, the source added.
