Syria: Israel seeks to spark wars

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has called on the West to break its silence on Israel’s warmongering actions and hostile behavior.

Assad spoke of “Israel’s violations and its attempts to spark wars and conflicts,” Ynet reported.

“It’s unthinkable that the West keeps silence in light of the Israeli aggression,” he said on Sunday.

Assad made the remarks after a meeting with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Earlier in the month, Kouchner had expressed concerns about an alleged “stockpile of weapons” in the Middle East, echoing an claim that Syria was transferring Scud missiles to Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement.

He, however, used the Sunday meeting to convey to Assad a message from Nicolas Sarkozy in which the French president had called the two sides “friendly” states.
