Syria neighbors must stop supporting terrorists: Iran cmdr.

Iran’s top military commander has cautioned Syria’s neighboring countries to abandon support for terrorists, saying the Syrian nation remains resolute in protecting ‘Syria’s resistance front’ against the Israeli regime.

Syria’s neighboring Muslim countries are duty-bound to stop their support for terrorists in the Arab country, said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, adding that the UN-Arab League envoy to Syria Kofi Annan’s plan for peace in Syria is accepted by the international community

Turkey and Jordan should close their borders to terrorists and not leave their security in the custody of the Israeli regime, the commander pointed out.

Firouzabadi also stated that the restoration of peace in Syria would meet public interests and provide Muslim countries with new opportunities.

Tehran has repeatedly reaffirmed its full support for Annan’s six-point plan on ending the unrest in Syria.

Annan sought Iran’s participation in the late-June Geneva meeting on Syria, but the idea was opposed by the United States and its Western allies.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. U.S, Israel and their regional allies-backed and armed terrorists killed many people, including security forces.

Damascus blames ‘outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups’ for the unrest, asserting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
