Media sources disclosed that Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front) has started setting fire at its bases in Wadi al-Bardi in a show of its decision to leave the region.

The Arabic language al-Hadath news quoted informed sources in Wadi al-Bardi as saying that Fatah al-Sham has set fire at its bases in the region, preparing for pulling back its forces along with foreign members from the reign to move towards militant-held areas in Idlib province.

In the meantime, a military committee affiliated to the Presidential Guards has been formed in coordination with Wadi al-Bardi committee to monitor delivery of militants’ arms to the army soldiers and reconciliation process, al-Hadath went on to say.

Several armed groups in Wadi al-Bardi region in Northwestern Damascus contacted the army’s command center through the local people and asked for their help on Saturday, claiming that al-Nusra Front is forcing them to fight against the army.

“A large number of armed militants are waiting for the army’s advance towards their positions to join the army and get rid of al-Nusra and other terrorist groups’ ringleaders,” prominent analyst Ali Maqsoud said on Saturday.

He said the terrorists cut off Damascus water supplies recently as a savage response to the resistance front’s major victory in Aleppo, and added, “Liberation of Aleppo tore up the terrorist plots in Syria and therefore, the Saudi regime has persuaded the mercenaries that are called by the US and westerners as moderate dissidents to blow up the water pipelines to Damascus and contaminate the reservoirs to create problems for the Syrian government; therefore, the government has decided to confront the terrorist groups in Damascus countryside militarily.”

The terrorist groups, deployed in Northwestern Damascus, contaminated a main source of drinking water of Damascus city and its suburb with a large volume of Mazut late last month to revenge for their defeats in the battle against the Syrian army troops in Wadi al-Bardi region.

The Syrian government is supplying drinking water for residents in Damascus neighborhoods after the terrorists contaminated water supplies.
