Syria- People’s Assembly Discusses Several Economic, Educational and Agricultural Issues

The People’s Assembly, in its meeting on Wednesday, the second in the 13th regular session of the ninth legislative term, marked the anniversary of the victory of the October Liberation War which is to be commemorated on Thursday, October 6th.

The Assembly members observed a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the homeland martyrs who sacrificed their lives and won the Liberation War of 1973.

After that, the Assembly started the session with referring the members’ written questions on a number of economic, educational and agricultural issues to specialized committees to be studied and submitted to the parties concerned.

The discussed issues included the possibility of repealing decree no. 3 which bans the transfer of the land property, reconsidering the age limit for admission in the Youth Employment Program currently set at 30 and the mechanisms for fixing temporary employees.

Other issues were related to compensating the shortage of some cancer drugs, tightening supervision on the prices of the main commodities at the market, reconsidering the university acceptance rates and solving the problem of diesel smuggling.

Important issues also discussed at the session included the redrawing out the economic policies in light of depending on the various potentials of the Syrian economy, offering the needed support to small and medium-sized projects and finding solutions to boost the process of marketing the citruses and olive.
