The Syrian Army’s artillery units, tipped off by the intelligence agents, opened heavy fire at a secret meeting of al-Nusra Front’s commanders in the militant-held town of Khan Sheikhoun, leaving several terrorists dead and many more wounded.

The Syrian artillery units, deployed to Suran and Ma’an (14 kilometers away from Khan Sheikhoun) shelled the meeting of a number of the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front’s field commanders gathered in a former driving school in the Eastern part of the town of Khan Sheikhoun, which claimed the lives of at least 25 terrorists.

Ahmad Naddaf, Khaled al-Bakri and Ibrahim al-Barazi were among the killed terrorists in the attack.

Khan Sheikhoun – home to approximately 50,000 residents – was controlled by government troops until the summer of 2014 when the al-Nusra Front launched a major offensive in Southern Idlib and eventually seized the town.

Reports said last week that concentration centers of the terrorist groups near at least four small but strategic towns in the Southern part of Idlib province were massively targeted by the Syrian fighter jets.

Tens of the terrorists were killed or wounded in the Syrian air fleets’ bombardments near the small towns of Tamanna, Maarat, Kafr Sijneh and Maarat Zita.

The Syrian air attacks also inflicted major damage on the terrorist groups’ military hardware.

The air attacks were heavy and did not allow the militant groups to carry out their normal military movements in the region.
