Syria terrorists fire six rockets at Lebanon’s Hermel

At least six rockets fired by anti-Syria militants have hit Lebanon’s border town of Hermel, Lebanese officials said.

The incident took place on Saturday near the Shia-populated town that is situated in Bekaa Valley. There were no reports on possible casualties.

Al-Qaeda-linked groups, al-Nusra Front and Marwan al-Hadid Brigades, affiliated to Abdullah Azzam Brigades, have claimed responsibility for the assaults.

The attacks came only a day after four rockets hit the area, causing material damage.

One of the rockets fired from Syria’s eastern mountain hit a road, while the other three struck residential neighborhoods in northern Bekaa Valley.

Hermel and other areas of eastern Lebanon are considered to be strongholds of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah.

On Friday, the al-Nusra Front in Lebanon issued a threat against Hezbollah, saying it will continue attacks against the resistance movement.

The statement came three days after the al-Qaeda-affiliated group claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack that killed four people and injured many others in Haret Hreik area in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The Lebanese capital has been hit by several deadly bomb attacks over the past few months.

President Michel Suleiman has repeatedly called for adopting necessary measure to “protect citizens and Lebanese cities and prevent any attack against them.”
