A senior Syrian analyst referred to the fierce clashes between the army units and militants near Zahia Al-Assad district, and said Damascus countryside will soon be turned into a graveyard for the terrorists.

“The terrorists’ attacks on Reef (countryside of) Damascus were aimed at changing the map of the operation zones so that the Syrian capital will be pressured,” Sabet Mohammad told FNA on Sunday.

He revealed that supporters of terrorist groups and the foreign intelligence agencies have ordered the militants to intensify their attacks against Damascus countryside, but “the Syrian army will turn that region into a mass graveyard for the terrorists”.

Mohammad pointed to the recent clashes between the Syrian forces and terrorists in Zahia Al-Assad district, and said 6,000 terrorists had participated in the attack but the army’s swift reaction made them withdraw from the region.

His remarks came after the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 120 militants from different terrorist groups have been killed in Syria on Friday.

According to the report, the militants who were members of the ISIL and al-Nusrah terrorist groups were killed near Deir Ezzur military airport, Idlib airport and Latakia and in the Syrian army’s airstrikes in other parts of the country.
