Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) – continued their powerful offensive at the strategic town of Al-Zorba, striking the defensive positions of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) at the eastern flank.

Once again, Hezbollah and Harakat Al-Nujaba would lead the assault against the terorists at Al-Zorba; however, this time, they successfully broke-through Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s defenses at the Al-Zorba Farms, which ultimately led to their advance towards the town’s eastern entrance.

With Hezbollah and Harakat Al-Nujaba at the eastern entrance of Al-Zorba, the Lebanese and Iraqi resistance groups needed the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division to plough through the Islamist rebel defenses and the rough terrain surrounding the town; this would eventually pay dividends for the pro-government forces as they would enter Al-Zorba by 6:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) on Friday night.

The Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra issued a distress call to their comrades attempting to retake the small villages of Tal Barakah and Zeitan: their defenses were falling apart and the pro-government forces knew this.

As a result of their misfortune, the Islamist rebels were forced to retreat towards the town center in order to regroup and reorganize their disorganized forces fleeing Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division.

If the Islamist rebels lose the strategic town of Al-Zorba in southern Aleppo, they will ultimately have their main supply route along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway) cutoff, leaving them unable to resupply their soldiers in the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.
