Syrian Army approaches last hills in strategic volcanic region occupied by ISIS

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their large-scale offensive in the Al-Safa volcanic region, today, in a bid to liberate the last areas under the occupation of the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).

Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Arab Army kicked off the day by storming the Islamic State’s defenses from two different axes.

The Syrian Arab Army was able to score a new advance against the Islamic State forces after breaking through the terrorist group’s lines inside the imperative Qasr Sheikh Hussein area of Al-Safa.

According to a military source in nearby Sweida city, the Syrian Arab Army is within 300 meters of reaching the top of one of the largest hills in the Al-Safa region.

The source added that once the Syrian Arab Army reaches the top of this hill, they will effectively have complete fire control over the entire Al-Safa region.
