The Syrian Army, in a rapid offensive on Wednesday, pushed back the ISIL terrorists from several farms near Deir Ezzur airbase East of Syria.

The Syrian army troops broke through the ISIL’s lines of defense at al-Mura’yeh and reentered the farms around the village.

The army soldiers reentered al-Mura’yeh farms after seizing both the al-Alam and al-Walid farms at the Southern perimeter of the Deir Ezzur Military Airport; this successful counter-attack allowed the government forces to build a buffer-zone around its Southern gates.

Meantime, the army managed to clear the strategic hilltop of Tal Kroum and much of Jabal al-Thardeh to the Southwest of the airbase; these aforementioned sites were originally captured by the ISIL during late January offensive.

Clashes are currently ongoing between ISIL and the Syrian Armed Forces at al-Jazeera University and the Furat al-Sham Hotel in al-Baqaliyah district, along with intense firefights at the al-Hwaiqa, al-Jubeileh, al-Roshdiyeh, Old Airport, and al-Sina’ah districts inside the provincial capital.

Earlier reports said that the Syrian army troops continued to target the ISIL gathering centers in at least two neighborhoods of the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur, inflicting a heavy death toll on the terrorists.

The ISIL militants’ positions in the neighborhoods of Roshdiyeh and al-Hwaiqa were hit heavily by the Syrian soldiers.

Several members of the ISIL were killed or wounded in the calashes with the army.
