Syrian Army Conducts Heliborne Operation, Captures More Terrorist-Held Lands in Raqqa Province

The Syrian Army helicopters carried out several heliborne operations in the depth of Badiyeh (desert) in the border region between Raqqa and Homs provinces and managed to drive ISIL terrorists out of more positions, military sources reported on Saturday.

The sources said that the army helicopters conducted night-time heliborne operations behind the defense lines of the ISIL South of the town of al-Kadir at Raqqa’s provincial border with Homs and managed to advance 21km and impose control over Khirbet Makman region and the town al-Kadir.

The army soldiers also advanced against ISIL 12km Eastward and captured the village of Beir al-Rohoum, the sources went on to say.

They added that the army men killed a large number of terrorists, destroyed 20 military vehicles and seven bomb laden cars and seized two tanks and several cannons.

Earlier reports said that ISIL has sent more terrorists and military hardware to the Southeastern parts of Raqqa province to protect its last stronghold in the region against the Syrian Army troops’ devastating advances.

Local sources said that the ISIL terrorist group has forwarded a large number of forces and a large volume of military equipment to the town of Ma’adan in last two days to slow down the army soldiers’ rapid advances in the region.

The ISIL is trying hard to prevent the fall of Ma’adan to the army because the latter’s control over Ma’adan will pave the way for the pro-government forces to enter Deir Ezzur province.

The sources further added that the ISIL has also carried out several surprise attacks on army positions in areas surrounding Ma’adan to prevent the soldiers’ advances.
