The Syrian army shot down a balloon carrying US-made spying devices over the northwestern province of Idlib.

The balloon was shot by Syrian army in the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib countryside near the Turkish border.

Military sources said the balloon was carrying spying devices including cameras, adding that these devices were equipped with modern techniques.

The sources noted that these spying devices include programming units and have a large memory storage, stressing that there such devices are not found in Syria, in reference that they are foreign-made.

Sources told al-Manar that the balloon was observing the movements of the Syrian army in the area o Wadi el-Daif and Idlib countryside, where a camp for Syrian army has been besieged by armed groups for months but was able to lift the siege few days earlier.

It seems that these US equipments can be considered a part of what was called Whashington’s “nonlethal” aid to militants fighting the Syrian government.

Last month, Syrian authorities confiscated Israeli espionage devices along the country’s Mediterranean coast.

The gadgets were found inside rocks made of fiber and were designed to film and instantly transmit live images and information.
