Syrian Army, Hezbollah control 113 km of Lebanon’s border

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah control 113 km of territory along the Syrian-Lebanese border, the latter claimed through their official media wing this morning.

From Ma’bar Al-Jadidah in southwest Damascus to Jaroud Falita in the Qalamoun Mountains, the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah control this large stretch of rugged territory that borders Lebanon’s Beqa’a Governorate.

This claim by Hezbollah’s military channel comes just one week after their organization took control of the small village of Sabna in the Al-Zabadani Mountains of west Damascus.

While all official Lebanese border-crossings are under Syrian Army and Hezbollah control, the jihadist rebels and Islamic State (ISIL) forces have some entry points they use in the Qalamoun Mountains near the Qarah Barrens.

The Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah are working to clear these entry points in the Qalamoun Mountains; however, the government forces are restricted from crossing into Lebanon, so they are forced to rely on the Lebanese Army.
