The Syrian Arab Army’s 102nd Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by Hezbollah, the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA), and National Defense Forces (NDF) – are preparing for a new offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus that will focus on the rebel controlled villages of Hawsh Al-Farah and Mayda’a.

According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus City, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah plan to attack from Brigade 39 in the East Ghouta toward the aforementioned villages above.

In addition to this, the jihadist rebels reported a massive convoy of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers and tanks making their way to the Brigade 39 area on Sunday, corroborating the military reports from the East Ghouta. The Al-Masdar correspondent reported that the convoy of Syrian Arab Army soldiers was comprised of 1,500 military personnel and 15 well-armed tanks.

Unlike their recent offensives in the East Ghouta; this assault will likely be the most important one of all because the village of Mayda’a is where Jaysh Al-Islam’s (Army of Islam) supply route flows through.
