Syrian Army, Hezbollah Preparing for Fresh Anti-Terrorism Operation in Western Damascus

The Syrian Army troops and the Lebanese Hezbollah fighters are dispatching fresh recruitments to Qalamoun region to pave the ground for the launch of the final phase of anti-terrorism operation in Western Damascus, military sources disclosed.

The sources said that while the army and Hezbollah are sending more forces in Western Damascus, the Syrian Air Force has intensified attacks on the positions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Ahrar al-Sham and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) in the regions of Jaroud Qara and Jaroud Falita in Qalamoun mountain.

The sources said that Damascus has offered militants to leave the region for Idlib via a safe corridor but the gunmen have refused.

The sources went on to say that while the gunmen’s response to Damascus’ offer is negative, the army and Hezbollah will carry out repeated attacks on their positions similar to their attacks on the towns of al-Zabadani, Darayya and Mo’adhamiyeh in order to force them to either surrender to the army.

Media sources affiliated to the terrorist groups reported on Saturday that talks between militant groups and the Syrian Army to end hostilities were underway in several regions in Eastern Qalamoun in Damascus province.

The Arabic-language daily, Al-Arabi al-Jadid, reported that the Syrian government had been engaged in peace talks with militants in the regions of Rahibeh, Jiroud, al-Naseriya, al-Jabat and al-Betra in line with implementation of peace in the war-hit country.

The town of al-Rahibeh and Jiroud region are under the siege of the army troops that closed off all the supply lines to the town and the region.

Based on reports, Damascus called on militants deployed in Jiroud and al-Rahibe to join the reconciliation plan and apply for government amnesty or to leave the region for militant-held regions in North.
