Syrian Army Inches Closer to Energy-Rich Regions in Eastern Homs

 

The Syrian Army soldiers, backed up by Russian choppers, continued their anti-ISIL operation North of the recently-liberated city of Palmyra (Tadmur) and deployed forces at positions very near to an oil and gas-rich region.

The army engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and drove the terrorists out of Antar mount and its nearby positions and deployed forces in a region close to al-Sha’er oilfield.

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed and many more were wounded in the operation.

In the meantime, the army units clashed fiercely with ISIL and managed to advance against terrorists North of Hazal energy field, taking back the al-Hid and al-Zalil Mounts only 14km away from Hayan gas field.

Military sources said that the Russian military helicopters were supporting the Syrian ground troops’ anti-ISIL operation.

A military source reported that the army is capable of seizing back military control of al-Sha’er oilfield after capturing a few hills in the region.

In relevant developments in the province on Monday, the Syrian air force bombed heavily ISIL’s defense lines and moves in Jabal (mount) al-Mazar and Jabal al-Haram regions and at the wheat silos East of Palmyra, killing tens of terrorists, including foreign Arabs and others from non-Arab states.

Several military vehicles of ISIL and their equipment were also destroyed in the attack.

In the meantime, the Syrian Army troops engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in Talileh region Southeast of Palmyra, leaving a number of terrorists dead or wounded.

Also, the army’s artillery units pounded the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in the villages of Kafr Laha and Taldou in al-Houleh region, inflicting a number of casualties on the terrorists.
