Syrian Army inflicts losses on terrorists

The Syrian Army has made more gains in its fight against foreign-backed insurgents in a suburb of the capital Damascus.

Press TV correspondent Mohamad Ali reported from al-Matahin on Thursday during one of the battles, described as a crucial fight, army units inflicted heavy losses on insurgents near the Damascus international airport and regained control of al-Matahin area.
An army official told Press TV “Terrorists attacked the (al-Ghizlania) mill and carried whatever they can with them. We came and encircled the area and entered (the premises) from three areas. Ferocious clashes happened and we killed them.”
In late July, insurgents attacked the al-Ghizlania mill in al-Matahin area, killed the workers and looted large amounts of grain and flour. Armed men were also using the factory as strongholds against the Syrian Army.
Another official told the Press TV correspondent “More than five hundred insurgents attacked this mill. We inflicted heavy losses on them. We were careful not to harm the structure of the mill. They used advanced rockets and destroyed parts of the mill. We killed the armed men — among the dead were one Saudi Arabian and two Jordanian (citizens),”.
Fire was still breaking out in parts of the mill when Press TV team arrived at the place because of heavy fighting. The insurgents also sabotaged many of the machinery inside the factory.
