Syrian army inflicts major blows on al-Nusra terrorists

Syrian army continues making advance against foreign-backed armed militants, killing many rebels across the country.
The Syrian forces have arrested 12 militants, affiliated with the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front, as they were trying to infiltrate into some sites in the province of Latakia, the official SANA news agency reported on Monday.
Clashes also continued around the capital Damascus where the soldiers carried out operations against militants and killed several of them.
The army also launched large-scale operations in Aleppo, inflicting heavy losses on the militants, who are fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
In the countryside of Daraa, the troops foiled an attack by militants against an army checkpoint.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since 2011. Some sources say over 140,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to the violence fueled by Western-backed militants.
According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
