On Saturday morning, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched another large-scale assault on the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s frontline defenses at the southern entrance of the airbase in order to find an outlet to propel their militants through.

However, the terrorist group ran into the stiff defenses of the Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division and the 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard; this prompted the aforementioned pro-government forces to strike back against the attacking ISIS militants attempting to infiltrate into the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 104th and 137th Brigades struck the terrorist group’s positions at the Brick Factory located to the east of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport; this resulted in the death of 18 enemy combatants, including the internationally wanted terrorist “Abu Seif Al-Iraqi” and his primary aides, Ahmad Haboush and Siraj Al-Deen Jasseem Al-‘Ayadeh.

Abu Seif Al-Iraqi was reportedly wanted by a number of governments around the world for committing terrorist acts and funneling weapons into Iraq during the 2003 War – his identification is currently pending; however, the Iraqi Government has wanted this terrorist for over 7 years.

Firefights were also reported between the Syrian Arab Army and ISIS inside the Deir Ezzor Governorate on Saturday; this included the following districts: Al-‘Amal, Al-Sina’a, Al-Haweeqa, Al-Rashidiyah, Al-Rusafa, Sheikh Yasseen, Al-Kanamat, and Al-Jubeileh.
