The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) pushed back against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) forces in the western countryside of Palmyra on Tuesday, striking the latter’s defenses at the eastern outskirts of the T-4 Military Airport.

Led by the 800th Battalion of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate more than 10km of territory east of the T-4 Military Airport, marking their largest advance in this area over the last 10 days.

According to a military source in eastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army conducted this operation after the Islamic State terrorists failed to infiltrate the eastern walls of the T-4 Pumping Station; this site is located directly east of the T-4 Airport.

ISIS is still poised to seize the T-4 Military Airport, despite the fact they have been unable to gain any significant ground around the installation recently.

While ISIS continues this failed endeavor, the Syrian Arab Army is busy increasing the total number of military personnel at this front, as they prepare to launch a massive counter-offensive in the new year.
