Syrian Army raises flag over strategic Jordanian crossing for first time in 3 years

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has raised the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic, today, over the strategic Nassib Crossing for the first time in three years.

Following an agreement between the Russian Reconciliation Center and Syrian opposition, the Syrian military raised their flag over the Nassib Crossing, marking their first return to the site since withdrawing in late March 2015.

With their control of the Nassib Crossing, the Syrian government will now restore the imperative highway linking Damascus and Amman.

Reopening the Nassib Crossing has been a top priority for the Syrian government since they managed to retake the entire Damascus countryside.

The Syrian Arab Army will now shift their attention to the provincial capital of Daraa, where they hope to retake the entire southern part of the city.

In order to secure the Nassib Crossing, the Syrian Army will have capture the Daraa Al-Balad District in the provincial capital.

Without control of the Daraa Al-Balad District, the Syrian Army’s positions in the Nassib Crossing will be exposed to potential threats from the rebel forces in the provincial capital.
