Syrian Army Readying to Reopen Hasaka-Damascus Road after 4 Years

The sources said that the army soldiers have already made significant advances against tthe ISIL in Eastern Aleppo and took control over the villages of Un Khazreh and Houtes, and have now deployed in regions controlled by the Kurdish-ked Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

They further added that the army’s presence in Kurdish-controlled regions has paved the way for reopening a key road from central Syria towards the country’s border with Turkey after over four years.

The sources said that the army is planning to reopen the road from Hasaka to Tal Abyadh and Ein Issa towns in Northern Raqqa and from there to Ein al-Arab and Manbij towns in Northeastern Aleppo and from there to Aleppo city and Damascus.

Reopening the Hasaka-Damascus road will also end the terrorists’ siege on the town of Afrin and its surroundings in Northern Aleppo, the sources pointed out.

The sources went on to say that reopening the Hasaka-Damascus road will not only bring economic fruits for the country and the region, but also result in achieving political and military gains.

“With this major breakthrough, Syria’s borders with Turkey will be sealed completely and the regions of Jarabulus, al-Bab, al-Rai, Mare’a and Azaz that have temporarily been separated from the homeland will be liberated in the next stage of Syrian Army troops’ operation after the Turkish army and its allied militants of the Euphrates Shield Operation are expelled from Northern Syria.

On Monday, the Syrian government forces continued their advances against the ISIL terrorists in Eastern Aleppo and deployed in regions controlled by the Kurdish fighters, cutting off the only way left for the Turkey-backed Euphrates Shield Operation militants to the town of Manbij.

The army forces drove ISIL out of the town of Jubb al-Khafa and expanded their presence to the regions under the control of the SDF in the towns of Um Khazreh and Houteh.

Military sources said the Syrian army’s control over Jubb al-Khafa has sealed off the road to Manbij, preventing the Euphrates Shield Operation force from expanding to the town in Northeastern Aleppo.

The sources said that arrival of the Syrian army at borders with the SDF-controlled regions will possibly open new safe corridors for transferring civilians from East Aleppo province to Aleppo city and other regions that are controlled by the Kurdish forces.
