Syrian Army Readying to Strike Terrorists’ Main Stronghold at Border with Iraq

The sources said that the army men are now 70 km away from the town of Albu Kamal, the main stronghold of ISIL at the border with Iraq.

They went on to say that the army units imposed control over the village of Mahkan South of the town of al-Mayadeen after pushing ISIL away form the town of al-Qouriyeh and its surrounding regions.

The pro-government forces have made significant gains in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, including capturing the towns of al-Mayadeen and al-Qouriyeh and the villages of Mahkan and Khusham.

The army is planning now to storm ISIL’s defense lines in Albu Kamal, one of the most important strongholds of the terrorist group in Syria.

Reports said on Saturday that the army soldiers hit ISIL positions on the Eastern Bank of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzur province, seizing control of a key town.

The army men won another battle with ISIL and pushed them back from the town of Khusham in the Eastern countryside of Deir Ezzur city, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
