Syrian Army recaptures large town of Khasham in Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their field operations along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, Sunday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the town of Khasham.

Led by the 4th Mechanized Division and 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the Islamic State’s positions at Khasham in a new bid to retake the town.

Not long after launching their attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to overtake the Islamic State militants at Khasham, forcing them to withdraw from the town they were occupying for a few days.

With Khasham under their control again, the Syrian Arab Army can concentrate on clearing the remaining areas occupied by the Islamic State along the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
