On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division – in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the 45th Regiment of the 1st Armored Division – carried out a powerful assault at the eastern flank of Al-Bahsa, killing over 25 enemy combatants from the conglomerate of Al-Qaeda affiliates “Jaysh Al-Fateh” (Army of Conquest).

Not long after they launched their counter-assault at Al-Bahsa, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to successfully push-out the militants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – the two largest factions of Jaysh Al-Fateh – resulting in the full capture of this town that sits along Jisr Al-Shughour Road.

To northeast of Al-Bahsa, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces – in coordination with Liwaa Assoud Al-Jabal (Lions of the Mountain Brigade) and the 87th Brigade – continued their counter-offensive at the strategic town of Qarqour, capturing more points that were under the control of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Ansar Al-Sham, and Jabhat Al-Nusra.

Jaysh Al-Fateh would not remain silent, however; instead, they launched their own assault on the town of Al-Ziyarah, where they attempted to breach the Syrian Armed Forces’ frontline defenses at the eastern flank.

According to a source from the Syrian Armed Forces, the Islamist rebels were unable to infiltrate the Syrian Armed Forces’ positions at Al-Ziyarah; this resulted in Jaysh Al-Fateh’s withdrawal to the town of Qastoun to the east – clashes have restarted on Sunday morning.
