Syrian Army Repels Terrorist Attack in Western Aleppo Countryside

Syrian army forces successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack by militants from Jabhat al-Nusra terror group in the Kafr Amma area, east of Atarib, in Aleppo during the time of iftar Thursday night.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense reported heavy losses in personnel and equipment among the terrorist group, with 11 terrorists killed, including their leader, and a large number injured.

In addition, five bodies, including those of foreign nationals, were retrieved and their weapons and equipment were seized.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Damascus government says the Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups that are wreaking havoc in the country.

Israel frequently targets military positions inside Syria and mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on Syrian territories which many view as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.

Over the past 11 years, the Aleppo Province has seen a significant presence of militant and terrorist outfits backed by foreign countries.
