The Syrian army thwarted the ISIL’s attack on the military centers in several regions in Deir Ezzur province on Monday.

The ISIL attempted to attack the Syrian army’s military positions in al-Moqaber, Boor, Saeed and al-Orfi regions, but its terrorists were driven back by the government troops.

Scores of ISIL militants, including their senior commanders, were killed in the army’s counteroffensive.

Elsewhere, the Syrian army destroyed the terrorists’ arms depot and missile launch-pads in Baqiliya region.

The Syrian army also hit hard the ISIL’s military convoy near Al-Jazeera university in the suburbs of Deir Ezzur city and in the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur military airport.

In a relevant development earlier on Monday, the Syrian Army troops alongside the popular forces pushed the ISIL terrorists back from more positions in the countryside of the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur in a rapid counter-attack and street battles.

The Syrian army, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Shaytat Tribesmen carried out a successful counter-assault along the Damascus-Baghdad International Highway, clearing several sites and areas, including the city’s cemetery that were under the control of the ISIL.

The Syrian soldiers and their allies also recaptured the Western entrance of the provincial capital.

In the meantime, several clashes have been reported inside the Workers District (Hayy al-‘Ardi) and along Port Saeed Street, where the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to clear a number of large buildings that are currently under ISIL control.

Earlier reports said that the Syrian Air Force’s combat flights inflicted major damage on the ISIL weapons and vehicles in the Eastern and Western parts of the desert-like province of Deir Ezzur.

The Syrian fighter jets, in several sorties, bombed the ISIL concentration centers near the village of al-Mura’yeh and the Eastern side of al-Jafreh, which ended in destruction of the group’s machinegun-equipped vehicles.

The ISIL positions near the village of al-Baqaliyeh in the Western side of Deir Ezzur were heavily hit by the Syrian warplanes.
