Syrian Army retakes Jabal Rous and advances north to Kinsibba

Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigagde of the Republican Guard – backed by the National Defense Forces, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), Syrian Marines, and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – capitalized on the crumbling defenses of the Islamist rebels and recaptured a strategic mountaintop in the northeastern Latakia.

The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies imposed full control over Jabal Rous (Russian Mountain) after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade).

Following the capture of Jabal Al-Rous, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies seized the small village of Majdal Khakhiyah in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), leaving the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army with their backs against the wall in northern Latakia.

Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are just 1.5 km away from the imperative village of Kinsibba in Jabal Al-Akrad; if captured by the pro-government forces, they will have immediate access to the rebel stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour in the Idlib Governorate.

The Islamist rebels have been able to hold off the Syrian Armed Forces for several weeks; however, it appears that their defenses are quickly crumbling as the pro-government forces press north towards Kinsibbba.
