Syrian Army scores new advance against ISIL in east Homs, new town liberated

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their field operations in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate this week, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions in the Jubb Al-Jarrah District.

Led by the 11th Tank Division and National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian military announced the liberation of Al-Tarawi, which is a town located northeast Abu Alaya village.

According to a military source, the Syrian Army entered Al-Tarawi yesterday, but were unable to secure the entire town until this morning, following a short battle with the remaining ISIL terrorists in the area.

The source added that more than ten Islamic State terrorists were killed during the attack and at least three armored vehicles fitted with anti-aircraft machine guns were destroyed.

The Syrian military will look to expand north from Al-Tarawi, as they attempt to upend the remaining Islamic State terrorists from the Jubb Al-Jarrah District of Homs.
