Syrian Army surrounds last IS strongholds in Deir Ezzor

ISIS so-called ‘caliphate’ is on its way out in Syria after a series of successful operations by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern and eastern part of the country.

The Syrian Arab Army has managed to score two major advances inside the southeastern part of Deir Ezzor.

The two advances were concentrated on two ISIS strongholds located between Albukamal and Al-Mayadeen: Al-Jalaa and Al-Salihiyah.

On Sunday, the Syrian Army’s Tiger Forces managed to surround Al-Salihiyah after a short operation from the liberated towns of Al-Asharah and Al-Quriyah.

The following day, the Syrian Army liberated eight towns and several mountaintops en route to reaching the important Al-Jalaa area that occupies a large part of the Euphrates River’s western bank.

In the coming days, the Syrian Army will begin their important attacks on Al-Jalaa and Al-Salhiyah as they look to clear the last remnants of the ISIS in Syria.
