Syrian Army Thwarts Wide-Scale Takfiri Attack in Idlib Countryside

Syrian Army and allies foiled on Thursday a wide-scale attack by Takfiri groups in Idlib countryside, inflicting heavy losses on terrorists.

Most of Takfiri factions operating in northern Syria had taken part in the attack, aimed at preventing the Syrian Army and allied forces from reaching the sprawling terrorist-held air base of Abu Duhour in the northwestern province of Idlib, Hezbollah’s War Media Center (WMC) announced.

The terrorists attacked Syrian Army posts in Hama’s northeastern countryside and Idlib’s southeastern countryside, according to WMC.

Earlier on Wednesday the WMC announced that the Syrian forces and allies were only two kilometers away from the Abu Duhour air base.

Recapturing the air base, which the terrorists took in 2015, has been one of the main targets of a major army offensive into Idlib that began in late October. The attack also aims to secure the road linking the capital, Damascus, with the northern city of Aleppo, Syria’s largest.
