‘Syrian civilian deaths blamed on foreigner terrorists destroying the country’

An Iranian official says foreign supporters of insecurity and armed operations in Syria are responsible for the death of innocent people in the Arab state.

“Syria has successfully crossed past the security crisis stage and the few remaining terrorists and irresponsible armed groups have been crippled. However, some foreign parties…keep supplying equipment and arms into the country and instigate terrorist acts to achieve their objectives,” Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Thursday.

He also condemned the ongoing terrorist attacks which are causing massive deaths and injuries in Syria.

The senior diplomat went on to say that Iran’s peace plan for Syria is the most appropriate political and practical answer to the Syrian crisis which could be settled solely through a Syrian-Syrian solution.

Amir-Abdollahian further pointed out that some foreign governments involved in the Syrian conflict consider themselves to be superior to the United Nations and the plan elaborated by the UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, and that they are scrambling to impose their own will.

On December 16, 2012, Iran outlined a six-point plan to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria, which calls for an immediate end to all violent and armed acts.

The plan calls for sending humanitarian aid to Syrians following the end of all conflicts, lifting all economic sanctions imposed against the country, and facilitating the return of displaced Syrians to their homes.

It also urges talks between the Syrian government and the representatives of all Syrian groups regardless of their political and social tendencies in order to form a national reconciliation committee.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
