20140129-143309_h524978The Syrian Arab Republic delegation to Geneva 2 conference said that it responded to an interposition of the coalition delegation by affirming that Syria agreed to the first Geneva communiqué with some reservations and came to Geneva due to its keenness on the lives of Syrians and their freedom and democracy.

This came during a morning dialogue session, held between the Syrian Arab Republic delegation and coalition delegation of so-called “opposition” and attended by UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, which was concluded on Wednesday afternoon.

The Syrian official delegation said that it since the beginning, it announced its full readiness to put the first Geneva communiqué on the table and discuss it one item at a time, starting from the first item.

The Syrian official delegation said that it pointed out to the coalition delegation the fact that the latter apparently hasn’t read any part of the Geneva communiqué except the 8th item, stressing that there were other items before and after it, and that nothing can be started from the middle.

The Syrian official delegation reaffirmed that Syrians alone have the right to decide upon their future, stressing the need for there to be an opposition representing a wide spectrum in order to take part in creating this future.

The Syrian official delegation also stressed during the morning the session the need for all sides, including the United Nations and others, to rise to the level of their responsibility and intervene decisively with the countries which interfere in Syria’s affairs, support terrorism in various ways, and seek to sabotage the Geneva meetings, and make these countries stop these actions immediately.
