Syrian forces foil terrorists attack, seize arms cache


Syrian government forces have foiled an attempted bomb attack in the west and confiscated a cache of weapons belonging to the insurgents in the country’s northeast.

The explosive device was discovered on Tuesday in the city of Hama, the capital of the Hama province, days after government forces managed to kill dozens of terrorists in the town of al-Rastan in the same province.

Syria has been the scene of unrest since March 2011. Because the presence of armed groups who are supported, financed and armed by Washington, Tel Aviv, Ankara, London, Paris, Berlin and certain Arab regimes.

Elsewhere, the army seized a cache of weapons belonging to the terrorists in the northeastern city of al-Shadadi.

In mid-July, Syrian forces also captured a large cache of weapons and explosive materials as well as documents, including foreign ID cards, in a massive search operation near Hama.

The spokeswoman for the so-called Syrian National Council (SNC), Bassma Kodmani, said on Monday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar are among the countries providing terrorists with weapons to fight the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Kodmani said the insurgents are desperately looking for arms, adding that some states are also providing them with money to buy weapons on the black market.

On Tuesday, heavy fighting was underway between Syrian government forces and terrorists in the northwestern city of Aleppo.

Clashes were raging in Seif Eldawla, Hanano and Hamdaniyeh neighborhoods, whereas a larger part of the city remained quiet.

The army has reportedly focused its operations on the outskirts of the city, trying to cut the insurgents’ logistic lines in preparation of a massive operation inside the city.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has pulled out its observers from Aleppo and sent them to the mission’s headquarters in the capital, Damascus.
