Syrian Forces Launch Fresh Operation to Free Regions Controlled by US-Backed Terrorists

The Syrian Army troops and their popular allies have kicked off a fresh phase of joint operation in Southeastern Homs to seize control over the regions that are now under the control of militant groups backed up by the US, a military source reported.

The source said that the army soldiers along with the Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement forces and the Iraqi Popular Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) started a fresh round of military operations against the US-backed militants near al-Tanf region in Southeastern Homs, inflicting large casualties on the Takfiri terrorists after hours of bloody battle.

The source added that the pro-government forces are trying to recapture the country’s Southern border and push the Free Syrian Army (FSA) back from their positions in Damascus, Homs and Sweida provinces.

Relevant reports said on Sunday that the army troops, the Lebanese Hezbollah fighters and Russian soldiers launched a new wave of offensives in Southeastern Homs, targeting ISIL’s positions near the provincial border with Deir Ezzur.

According to battlefield reports, pro-government forces, including the Syrian soldiers, Hezbollah fighters and the Russian army men, started a new phase of large-scale assault in the Humeimeh region, capturing most of the hilltops, while also killing and wounding several Takfiri terrorists along the road to Deir Ezzur province.

Also, two huge army convoys brushed aside ISIL resistance in Eastern Homs and pushed through several kilometers of desert to meet around the ISIL bastion of Humeimeh.

The units took two hills overlooking Humeimeh and forced ISIL to withdraw from the region during the clashes.

Amidst ongoing clashes between pro-government forces and the ISIL terrorist group in areas to the East of Palmyra, footage showed that Russian troops embedded with Syrian Army troops in the frontline in Eastern Homs.

According to a battlefield source, the Syrian Army hopes to establish control over the T2 Pumping Station to use it as a launchpad to direct two simultaneous offensives to relieve the besieged provincial capital of Deir Ezzur and to take the border town of Albu Kamal South of the Euphrates.
