Syrian foreign minister arrives in Tehran for talks

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem has arrived in Iran’s capital, Tehran, to hold talks with senior Iranian officials.

Heading a Syrian delegation, the Syrian foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Sunday.

Muallem is scheduled to hold talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili.

The talks will focus on the recent developments in Syria as well as bilateral relations between Tehran and Damascus.

Syria has been the scene of unrest since mid-March, 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
