Syrian government, rebels agree to open crossing point in north Hama

A new crossing point linking government and rebel-controlled areas in northern Hama countryside is now available for both trade and civilians.

Hama-Morek highway has been officially opened today following extended talks between the Syrian government and rebel factions, aimed primarily at facilitating the trade between the two warring parties.

This comes after al-Qaeda-kinked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham captured Abu Dali; an important village which also served as a crossing point and a trading hub.

Following the re-opening of the road, tens of trucks loaded with goods were seen crossing Hama- Khan Shiekhoun-Morek highway from and to government-held areas.

As per the new agreement, civilians are now capable of visiting their relatives in the other side of battleground northern countryside of Hama.
